Studio Classes


Studio Classes Take the 'routine' out of your 'routine'. Exciting, exhilarating, fun and fantastic are just a few ways to describe our group exercise classes. By mixing up your workouts with any of our fun fitness classes, you'll be making yourself new friends and getting yourself fit.

Whether you're looking for a fitness-based workout, or just want to have a blast whilst burning those calories in a cardio class, our experienced instructors offer you a multitude of fun fitness options including: Body Pump, Kick Boxing, Body Combat, Step, Body Balance, Yoga, Aerobic, Pilates and our multi-class body training system programme.

Aerobics First
A great fat-burning class based upon exercise to music, which may include some elements of choreography. Excellent for increasing fitness and reducing fat in a fun class environment.

Body Balance
The importance of taking a holistic approach to health and fitness is sweeping the world and Body Balance is at the leading edge of this phenomenon. Capitalising on the worldwide trend towards Yoga and Pilates, Body Balance combines the benefits of these exercise forms as well as other eastern disciplines, into one challenging and invigorating experience using a unique blend of movement and music

Body Combat
Combines powerhouse moves and stances developed from a range of self-defence disciplines including Karate, Kickboxing, Tai Chi and Tae Kwon Do, into a "take no prisoners", adrenaline pumping routine. It is an empowering, athletic workout that will have you "fighting fit" in record time!

Body First
An all over body conditioning class using various pieces of equipment to ensure an increase in muscle tone, strength and endurance.

Body Pump
A 45 to 60 minute non-impact, resistance-training programme, which utilises barbells and adjustable weights helping to improve muscular strength & endurance. It is a studio-based group session, which is led by highly skilled, motivating instructors who receive on-going training to ensure every class is safe, effective and fun.

Circuit First
Multi stationed group exercise class designed to work on all the basic elements of fitness (strength, stamina, flexibility). No co-ordination required and all abilities welcomed.

Core First
This is a new and exciting addition to our timetables. The core muscles function to maintain or stabilise the body as it moves. The greater the instability, the more the body needs to react to steady it. This new class with Medicine balls will ensure that you improve your balance in every day life through strength and stamina.

Dec First - Hit the Dec!
A new programme specially designed to integrate strength training with cardiovascular fitness. This class with give you the ultimate optimum health and performance gains - enhance your body with revolutionary equipment and coaching methods.

First Platoon
This fantastic outdoor-designed programme will get you active for summer with some great activities and is available for everyone and all abilities. First Platoon practices constant, never ending ideas and you will be left with the ultimate fitness physique.

Fit'n'Functional
A fantastic class exclusive to Fitness First utilising the "Stability Ball" to help develop functional strength - strength that carries over to every day life - a must for all levels.

Pilates
Developed in the 1920's by Joseph H. Pilates, whose aim was to combine the physique of the ancient Greeks with meditative strength of the east. It was originally a favourite of ballerinas and professional dancers, but in the last few years has begun to break through into the main stream. Within a matter of weeks of undertaking Pilates you will begin to notice your movement become more controlled and responsive, you should be standing straighter and feeling more energised as your body reacts to its newfound inner strength.

RPM
Set to the latest chart-topping tunes, RPM is a fun, athletic cardiovascular cycling workout that guarantees to leave you on a high and wanting more. A prolific calorie guzzler, RPM burns fat fast. It is also murder on the butt and thighs, so not only will you feel great but you'll look amazing. Don't delay, ride the calorie killer now...but be warned, it's addictive!

Spinning

Step First
A fun exercise to music class based on the use of a step which will help to increase fitness levels as well as increasing fat burning benefits.

Yoga
Due to the wide and varied nature of postures and techniques, yoga can be practiced by almost anyone regardless of age, from very young, to women during pregnancy, to older people alike. There is a form of yoga to suit everyone with different sets of exercises prescribed for different people accordingly.

Feature Classes

Adds creativity & flair to the time table depending on local variations of skill & availability.

Special Projects
Within the "Feature Class" section the Studio & Events Manager will set "Special Projects" - basically a specialist class will be taught in a block of 6 weeks. The coordinator runs training courses like Karate, Kickboxing, Tai Chi so you get small group sessions over a period of time. These will be paid sessions.
