Losing 11 stone boosted my confidence

Before the age of 9, Steph from Rochdale was a happy, healthy, popular girl. Then she was diagnosed with epilepsy. Unable to join in with regular activities at school, Steph was bullied and became isolated and down. The resulting stress left her with an ulcer, kidney stones and a cyst which all needed surgery. The medication Steph took for her epilepsy and an emotional attachment to food caused her to gain a lot of weight.

At college, Steph was encouraged to join Fitness First by a friend. She took up personal training sessions with Dean and has now lost approximately 11 stone in 2 years.

“I'm so much more confident now," said Steph, "previously I wouldn’t have even considered speaking to strangers, but now I'm happy to speak with anyone."
