In 1993, our first Fitness First club opened in Bournemouth in the south of England. Today we have clubs in 16 different countries, making us a leader in the global fitness industry.
We've seen a lot of change in the fitness industry over the years, but our philosophy has remained the same: to offer the best equipment, range of classes, knowledgeable staff and professional advice in a welcoming environment, that helps keep our members motivated.
Andy joined Fitness First as Chief Executive Officer on 1st June 2012. His previous career has been devoted to building brands in customer facing businesses. Before joining Fitness First Andy was Chief Executive of the InterContinental Hotels Group, one of the world’s largest hotel businesses operating in over a hundred countries. He spent more than six years in the role, overseeing a complete rejuvenation of the brand portfolio (including Holiday Inn, the world’s biggest hotel brand) and driving the rapid expansion of the portfolio across Asia. Prior to this, Andy spent 14 years at Cadbury Schweppes in a number of senior roles including CEO Asia Pacific, Chairman of Australia, and President, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Andy has a BA in Economics and an MA in European politics from the University of Manchester, he is also a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is Non-executive Chairman of the Rugby World Cup which takes place in England in 2015.
John joined Fitness First as our Group Chief Financial Officer on 1st January 2013. During his career he has lived and worked in Asia, Australia, the UK, America and the Middle East. For the past 4 years John has been based in Dubai as the Head of Finance for the Al Futtaim Group, with operations across the Middle East and Asia. Between 2004-2008, John was the CFO for Sydney listed Coca Cola Amatil and before CCA spent 10 years in a variety of senior roles at Cadbury Schweppes plc, including: Finance Director Global Operations based in London, CFO Americas, based in Dallas and between 1994 and 1998, Vice President Finance Asia Pacific, based in Melbourne. In his early career John held senior roles in a variety of smaller, family owned and private equity backed companies in Europe and Asia.
John is also responsible for Group IT and Technology.
