On Saturday (Saturday August 27th), as a nation we welcomed home to the incredible athletes who made up Team GB, who achieved incredible, and in some cases unexpected, success in Rio this August.

In celebration of the team's many triumphs multiple events took place across the country and we were very happy to be a part of the festivities.

Along with The National Lottery and ITV, who even turned off their channels for a whole hour on the day in order to encourage people to get off the sofa and do something active, Fitness First ran free exercise events up and down the country.

Thousands of people came along to join in our 15-minute spin classes and dance classes, and to also take part in our on-the-day Olympic-inspired challenges, which included the long jump, sandbell shot putt and a 500m rowing machine challenge.

It wasn't just the public that got involved in the celebrations on Saturday, however. ITV favourite Lydia Bright (above) from The Only Way Is Essex came along to work up a sweat as did Team GB athletes Claudia Fragapane (gymnast), Andrew Willis (swimmer), Natasha Hunt (women's rugby player), Siobhan O’Connor (swimmer), Joe Choong (pentathlon athlete) and Jazmin Sawyer (long jumper).
