What makes up BioAge?
Your overall BioAge is made up of four key components: strength, flexibility, metabolic, and cardio BioAges. Each one reflects a different aspect of your physical health, and together they provide a complete picture of how your body is performing compared to your actual age.
Strength
Reflects how strong you are relative to your body weight and your age group. Calculated through strength assessments on our Smart Strength machines, it provides a functional benchmark of your muscle health. As we age, we naturally lose muscle mass and strength, which can lead to metabolic issues, joint instability, and even increased risk of chronic disease. By training consistently and tracking your strength scores, you can reduce your Strength BioAge—keeping your muscles functioning optimally and helping your body stay biologically younger.
Cardio
Reveals how healthy your heart and lungs are through key indicators like resting heart rate, blood pressure, and VO₂max. VO₂max, in particular, is the gold standard for cardiovascular fitness, measuring how effectively your body uses oxygen. Input from your wearable devices, tests, or manual entries in the Fitness First App feed into our BioAge system to calculate this score. A lower Cardio BioAge indicates strong heart health and endurance capacity—crucial for reducing your risk of heart disease and enhancing overall energy and resilience.
Flexibility
Measures your range of motion and compares it to people your age. Flexibility naturally declines with age, which can limit mobility and increase injury risk. Using detailed movement assessments via the Fitness Hub, your flexibility across various joints and muscle groups is analysed, and you receive targeted recommendations to improve. A lower Flexibility BioAge means you're maintaining mobility well and supporting overall health—essential not just for fitness, but for everyday quality of life.
Metabolism
Evaluates how efficiently your body manages weight, fat, and energy. It combines your BMI, body fat percentage, and waist-to-hip ratio—along with other key metrics for assessing metabolic health. An optimal score means reduced risk for conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Our BioAge system uses scientifically validated formulas to calculate this, helping you understand your body's energy balance and giving you clear guidance on how to improve it. A younger Metabolism BioAge is a sign that your body is functioning at its best internally.
